IN VITRO TECHNOLOGY AND MICROPROPAGATED PLANTS

VIII International Symposium on Production and Establishment of Micropropagated Plants (PEMP)

III International Symposium on Micropropagation and In Vitro Techniques

Conveners
Sandra Correia, University of Coimbra, Portugal
Researcher in Centre for Functional Ecology (CFE, University of Coimbra). Her scientific career has been focused on the study of plant development by means of in vitro induced morphogenic processes, both in fundamental and applied research projects, and she has a large experience in plant physiology and cell and molecular biology.
Stefaan Werbrouck, Ghent University, Belgium
Head of the Laboratory for Applied In Vitro Plant Biotechnology at Ghent University. During nearly 30 years, he has built a strong track record in the main sub-domains of this technology. The central motivation of his international team is to offer innovative solutions for in vitro regeneration and cloning of superior herbaceous and especially woody plants. A good scientific network and proprietary research results ensure a continuous inflow of new tools to develop innovative in vitro strategies and … sometimes discover the unexpected.
Keynote Speakers
Modern cytokinin derivatives – synthesis, bioactivity and use in tissue cultures
Novel approaches to micropropagation, rooting and acclimatization for a wide variety of horticultural crops

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

Plant tissue culture is not only an important tool for fundamental research such as plant physiology and gene discovery, but it is also of direct commercial interest for mass micropropagation of plants, plant conservation and breeding, genetic transformation, genome editing, production of secondary metabolites, etc.
Academic and industrial scientists, students and other stakeholders will gather in Angers to discuss the latest advances in this important domain of plant biotechnology. This event will provide a platform to share the latest innovations and trends, discuss challenges and issues, and take the opportunity to establish multilateral cooperation through personal contacts.

The following topics will be developed during the symposium:

• New tools for micropropagation, rooting and acclimatization (including new compounds and light tools, imaging systems)
• In vitro breeding (including, embryo rescue, chromosome doubling, dihaploid production, protoplast fusion, mutagenesis)
• Micropropagation and microorganisms (including work on endophytes and contaminants, Next Generation Virus detection and eradication technologies)
• Molecular insights to understand micropropagation (including plant regulator signaling perception, pathways, actions and inhibitors)
• Conservation and long-term storage (including cryopreservation, slow-growth storage and synthetic seeds)
• Scaling up micropropagation (including somatic embryogenesis, bioreactors, robots and automation for commercial production)
