Paule Moustier, Cirad, France

Dr. Paule Moustier is an agricultural economist of CIRAD, Montpellier, France (Centre International en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement). She is the director of the MoISA, the Montpellier Interdisciplinary center on Sustainable Agri-food systems, a research unit in social and nutritional sciences. Her research work is about the organisation and performance of food chains supplying cities of Africa and Asia, with a focus on the role of geographical and relational proximity in market transactions. From 2002 to 2009, she was appointed in Hanoi, Vietnam where she created and coordinated the Malica consortium on Markets and Agricultural Linkages for Cities in Asia. Previously she was in charge of research on the organisation of vegetable supply of cities of West and Central Africa, and on the role of urban agriculture in food provisioning and livelihoods.
