The closing date for booking technical tours is May 15th 2022.

Late booking may be possible, subject to availability. Accompanying persons can also join those tours.

Booking is mandatory. Numbers are limited and will be allocated to participants on a first come – first served basis. If not enough or too many participants for a given tour, a tour can be cancelled.

Day 1(Sunday) : Transfert from Angers to Avignon (by train). Accomodation in hotel** in the center of Avignon

Day 2 (Monday): Postharvest and fruit and vegetables

Visit of CTIFL (Technical Center of fresh Fruits and Vegetables), Saint-Remy de Provence : the main technical platform of postharvest in France (35 storage and ripening chambers, biochemical and microbiological laboratories, fresh-cut). Visit of an industry that makes innovation in fruit treatments. Lunch with typical regional food. In the afternoon, touristic visit of the Alpilles and Les Baux de Provence (Carrière de lumières, a unique experience to be transported into the heart of art). Back to Avignon and free evening.

Day 3 (Tuesday): Transformation of fruit and vegetables

Visit of SONITO trials (interprofessional tomato industry) and agro-energy greenhouse (Piolenc). Before lunch, wine tasting at the Domaine Grand Père Jules (Xaviera Violes) and lunch in front of « Les dentelles de Montmirail », a remarkable landscape made of a limestone massif with peaks and needles which are reminiscent of lace. In the afternoon, visit at the INRAe (Avignon) to jam cooking and visit of transformation pilot. In the evening, private visit of the Palace of Popes with an English guide and dinner in the famous place of Palace of Popes.

Day 4 (Wednesday): Instrumental and Technical platforms

Visit of the old University of Avignon, the new laboratories and the metabolomic platform. Lunch at INRAe and visit of microscopy platform and green-houses. Visit of CTCPA (Technical center of food processing). At the end of afternoon, touristic visit of Le Luberon and dinner (Fontaine de Vaucluse, Isles-sur-la-sorgues).

Day 5 (Thursday): Departure (can be arranged with the travel agency).

- Travel from Angers to Montpellier (direct TGV train) on Sunday 21 August 2022 

- Three-day programme centred on Montpellier (accommodation base): Monday 22 August to Wednesday 24 August 2022 

- End of the programme on Thursday 25 August 2022, i.e. 4 nights in a hotel in Montpellier down town. Return or extension at the expense of the participants, possibly via the agency in charge of the tour 

Proposed programme 

Monday 22 August - Montpellier :  

o Departure from the hotel at 8.30 am by bus to Agropolis campus 

o Visits to the CIRAD Lavalette campus of the state-of-the-art technological platforms. Advanced greenhouses (AGAP-Institute), histo-cytology (PHIV), technology hall (QualiSud) 

o Welcome and lunch at Agropolis International: catering buffet for 30 people, room reserved.  

o Return by bus (2 pm) to the city centre (rest of the day on foot) 

o Guided walking tour of old Montpellier, botanical garden/university of medicine (3h) 

o Free evening 

Tuesday 23 August - Sète : 

o Departure from the hotel at 8.30 am. Precision viticulture (INRAE and Institut Agro-Montpellier SupAgro): Mas numérique in Villeneuve les Maguelone, and ampelographic collection in the Domaine de Vassal 

o Lunch by the lakes (Marseillan) 

o Visit of the city of Sète, marine cemetery, Paul Valéry museum, traditional fishing port 

o Evening wine tasting and dinner in Pic St Loup. Return to the hotel (22h30) 

Wednesday 24 August - Nîmes :  

o Departure from the hotel at 8:30 am. Fruit and vegetable agroecology: visit to the CTIFL in Balandran 

o Lunch in the Camargue countryside or in the centre of Nîmes 

o Visit of the Roman Museum, the Arena, the Maison Carrée  

o Return to the hotel (7 pm) in Montpellier and free evening 

Thursday 25 August - Montpellier : 

o Breakfast and check out of the hotel room. End of the services
